Dietitian and Nutrition Service Patient Feedback

Dietitians are qualified and regulated health professionals that assess, diagnose and treat dietary and nutritional problems at an individual and wider public-health level.

They use the most up-to-date public health and scientific research on food, health and disease which they translate into practical guidance to enable people to make appropriate lifestyle and food choices (British Dietetic Association).

Our dietitians offer a mix of telephone and face to face appointments at the GP practices in the PCN.

They also provide other services including online events such as webinars, group clinics and engagement events. They also often proactively contact patients who may benefit from advice or support from a dietitian.

To be booked in with a dietitian, you may complete an e-consult on your GP practice’s website, clearly stating the reason. Your GP, nurse or other health professional may also book you in with a dietitian.

Evening telephone appointments are available, as part of the extended hours service.

Our dietitians can help with the following:

IBS (and/or constipation, diarrhoea, bloating, excess wind)

You have been losing weight unintentionally due to a physical or mental health condition

Frailty

Pre-diabetes (also known as ‘borderline diabetes’)

Digestive issues including (but not limited to); coeliac disease, GORD, diverticular disease
